New Delhi, May 19: Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri will appear before the Parliamentary Standing Committee on External Affairs on Monday to present a detailed account of Operation Sindoor and the recent surge in India-Pakistan tensions.

Chaired by Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, the committee will examine the diplomatic, military, and regional ramifications of the Indian armed forces' response to the Pahalgam terror attack. The attack, which resulted in multiple casualties, sparked a forceful retaliation by India under Operation Sindoor, targeting terror camps across the border.

The briefing is expected to cover the present state of India-Pakistan diplomacy, ongoing security concerns along the border, and the potential impact on regional stability. Misri will also shed light on how India's foreign policy is adapting to the evolving threat landscape.

The situation deescalated after both nations agreed to cease hostilities on May 10, but tensions remain high. Misri’s presentation will help lawmakers assess India’s strategic posture and diplomatic outreach in the context of a volatile neighbourhood.

The Foreign Secretary has previously briefed the panel on India’s foreign policy with other nations, including Bangladesh and Canada.

In parallel, the Committee on Water Resources, chaired by BJP MP Rajiv Pratap Rudy, will be briefed on monsoon preparedness, flood management, soil erosion, and transboundary water issues.
