Udupi, May 24: Renowned Hindustani vocalist and acclaimed reality show star Vidwan Yashwanth M G is set to make history by attempting a Golden Book of World Records feat through a unique 24-hour musical tribute titled ‘Balagana-Yashoyana’, commemorating the birth anniversary of the legendary Ghana Gandharva Dr S P Balasubrahmanyam.
This world-first event is scheduled to be held at Purabhavana (Town Hall), Mangaluru, beginning at 3 pm on June 3 and continuing non-stop until 3 pm on June 4 —completing a full 24-hour marathon of music in homage to one of India’s most iconic playback singers.


The special tribute will be a soulful, uninterrupted 24-hour singing session, honouring the enduring musical legacy of Dr SPB. Accompanying Vidwan Yashwanth M G will be a team of skilled musicians, including Varsha on flute, Deepak on keyboards, Rajgopal on guitar, Vaman Kumar on rhythm, Sumukh on sitar, and Prajwal Acharya on tabla—promising a rich and evocative musical experience.
A multifaceted talent, Vidwan Yashwanth M G rose to fame after winning ETV’s ‘Yede Tumbi Haduvenu’ in 2006. His popularity further soared through appearances on Zee Kannada’s Sa Re Ga Ma Pa and Udaya TV’s Sangeetha Mahayuddha in 2010. Holding the prestigious Vidwat in Hindustani Sangeet, he received training under celebrated gurus such as Keerthishesha Madhav Acharya and Pandit Mahabaleshwar. He is also a proud alumnus of the esteemed Ganayogi Panchakshari Gavayi Math in Gadag.
Yashwanth M G’s academic journey is as illustrious as his musical career. He holds postgraduate degrees in Sanskrit, Kannada, History, and Hindi, and currently serves as an examiner at the Gangubai Hangal Music University, Mysuru. A former NCC army officer with the 18 Karnataka Battalion in Mangaluru, he voluntarily retired to fully dedicate his life to the pursuit of music and Vedic studies.
His musical accolades include the coveted ‘Yuva Gayaka Prashasti’ conferred by the Government of Karnataka in 2005. In 2008, he emerged as a finalist in Suvarna TV’s ‘Confident Star Singer’, followed by a triumphant win in Udaya TV’s ‘Sangeetha Mahayuddha’ in 2010. His foray into the Kannada film industry began in 2015 as a music director for the movie ‘Kanasu Kannu Teredaga’. In 2018, his full-length composition of the national song ‘Vande Mataram’ earned a world record, further cementing his place in Indian music history. He also reached the semifinals in Zee Kannada’s Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, showcasing his exceptional talent and versatility.
With over 3,000 concerts performed both in India and internationally, Vidwan Yashwanth M G has also mentored more than 5,000 students in music. His contributions as a guest on various television reality shows have been noteworthy. Currently, he serves as the chief judge of Daijiworld Swara Sagara, the flagship music reality show aired on Daijiworld Channel.
