Patna, May 25: RJD patriarch Lalu Prasad Yadav on Sunday announced the expulsion of his elder son, Tej Pratap Yadav, from the party for six years, citing irresponsible public behaviour and disregard for family values.
The move comes after a now-deleted Facebook post from Tej Pratap’s account surfaced, where he was seen with a woman named Anushka Yadav, claiming they had been in a relationship for 12 years. The post sparked a wave of criticism, especially as Tej Pratap had married former Bihar Minister Chandrika Rai’s daughter, Aishwarya, in 2018. The couple separated within months.

In a statement, Lalu said, “The elder son's activities and public conduct are not in line with our family's values. In these circumstances, I remove him from the party and the family. He will have no role going forward.”
Tej Pratap later claimed his social media was hacked, writing on X that his photos were “wrongfully edited.”
Reacting to the controversy, Tejashwi Yadav distanced himself from his brother, saying, “Personal life and political life are separate. He is free to make his choices, but the party has made its stand clear.”
Lalu’s daughter Rohini Acharya also weighed in, stating that those who uphold values and decorum never face such situations.
The incident has caused a stir in the RJD camp as the party gears up for the Bihar Assembly elections later this year.
