St Aloysius ITI hosts Blood Donation Camp in collaboration with Lions Club, KMC Hospital

Mangaluru, May 26: St Aloysius ITI in association with Lions Club, Amtoor and KMC Hospital, Mangaluru organised Blood Donation Camp on May 26th at St Aloysius Industrial Training Institute.

Edwin Noronha - president of Lions Club, Amtoor was the chief guest for the programme. The president for the programme was Fr John D’Souza S J - director St Aloysius Industrial Training Institute, Mangaluru. Roshan D’Souza - principal; Alwyn Menezes - vice principal; Wilson N - training officer; Dr Dhruv - medical officer, KMC Hospital, nurses and staff of KMC Hospital; Shreyas - convenor of the programme were present.

The prayer service was led by electronics mechanic students. Roshan D’Souza - principal welcomed the gathering.

The programme was inaugurated by lighting the lamp by the dignitaries on the dias.

Edwin Noronha, chief guest addressed and said, "Donating blood is a noble deed. I myself have been donating blood twice a year for the past seven years. The practice of blood donation should begin from student life itself. This will help in contributing positively to society in the future," he said, and extended his best wishes to the students.

Dr Dhruv said, "Blood donation is a great, noble, and humanitarian act. There is no alternative for blood. Today, I congratulate all the students who are coming forward to donate blood. Donating blood not only helps others but also keeps the donor healthy."

In his presidential address Fr John D'Souza SJ said that, "A blood donation camp is one of the activities that helps cultivate social responsibility. There is always a demand for blood in hospitals. Donating blood not only helps others but also stimulates the production of new blood in the donor's body, which keeps the person healthy and happy. Just as there is a blood connection between a mother and child, similarly, when we donate blood to others, it builds a deeper human connection between us and them."

A total of 63 members donated blood.

Shreyas, convenor of the programme proposed the vote of thanks.
