Qatar voices strong solidarity with India against cross-border terrorism

Doha, May 26: Qatar’s Foreign Affairs Minister Mohamed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh Al Khulaifi on Monday reaffirmed his country’s unwavering support for India’s fight against cross-border terrorism during a key meeting with an all-party Indian delegation led by NCP (SP) MP Supriya Sule.

The delegation conveyed India’s firm and united stance against Pakistan-sponsored terrorism and highlighted the significance of Operation Sindoor India’s counterterrorism response following the recent Pahalgam terror attack.

The Indian Embassy in Qatar shared on X that Khulaifi expressed solidarity with India’s zero-tolerance policy on terrorism, emphasizing its importance for peace and stability in the region.

Alongside Supriya Sule, the delegation included prominent leaders such as Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Anurag Thakur, V Muraleedharan, Congress members Manish Tewari and Anand Sharma, Telugu Desam Party’s Lavu Sri Krishna Devarayalu, Aam Aadmi Party’s Vikramjeet Singh Sawhney, and former diplomat Syed Akbaruddin.

The group also held “productive and constructive” discussions with Qatar’s Shura Council, where they asserted India’s sovereign right to defend itself.

Briefing the media, Sule said, “All members of Qatar Parliament stood firmly with India, sharing a unanimous view that terrorism must be uprooted at its source.” She added that Qatar’s parliamentarians echoed India’s zero-tolerance stance on corruption alongside terrorism.

Congress MP Manish Tewari described his interaction with Her Excellency Sheikha Hamda bint Hassan Al Sulaiti, Deputy Speaker of the Shura Council, as constructive. “I impressed upon them India’s 5,000-year-old civilisational continuum — a melting pot of diverse religions and cultures. India cannot be subjected to a low-cost proxy war by Pakistan using terror as a state instrument and reserves the right to take all measures to defend its sovereignty and ethos,” he stated.

The delegation also met editorial teams of leading Qatari newspapers Al Sharq and Peninsula sharing India’s perspectives on recent terror developments and the country’s counterterrorism policies.

Further engagements included a visit to the Middle East Council for Global Affairs and meetings with senior Qatari MPs, where they conveyed India’s national outrage over the April 22 Pahalgam attack.

This robust diplomatic outreach underscores India’s efforts to build international consensus against terrorism and secure support for its sovereign right to peace and security.
