Truck mows down six during rescue effort in Beed, driver absconding

Beed, May 27: In a tragic incident in Maharashtra’s Beed district, six people lost their lives after being run over by a speeding truck while they were clearing a crashed car from the road on Monday night.

According to officials, the accident occurred on National Highway-52 near Gadhi village, around 100 km from Beed. Around 8.30 pm, a car driven by Deepak Atkare of Gevrai rammed into the road divider. Locals rushed to assist in removing the vehicle from the highway.

However, at approximately 11.30 pm, a truck came speeding down the stretch and ran over the group of people engaged in the rescue effort. Six of them died on the spot, while one-person sustained injuries.

The deceased have been identified as Balu Atkare, Bhagwat Paralkar, Sachin Nannavre, Manoj Karande, Krushna Jadhav, and Deepak Surayya all residents of Gevrai in Beed district.

Authorities have launched efforts to trace the absconding truck driver. Police have registered a case and further investigation is underway.
