Karkala, May 29: The inauguration of the first year pre-university course (PUC) for the academic year at Christ King PU College, Karkala, was held with great enthusiasm in the newly built auditorium of the institution.

The event was graced by retired headmaster and noted orator Muniraj Renjal, who lit the ceremonial lamp and officially inaugurated the academic session.

Addressing the students and parents, he emphasised the importance of holistic education. “Children must not only strive to become educated individuals but also develop strong values and lead meaningful lives. Parents should speak to their children with love and create a positive learning environment at home,” he said.

Prominent entrepreneur Vivekananda Shenoy, another chief guest, spoke about the role of teachers and parents in shaping the future of students. “Christ King PU College has set an example in this region by taking remarkable efforts towards student development,” he noted.

Former PTA president Balakrishna Shetty, current PTA president Prakash D’Souza, and the college’s student counselor Dr Sister Charlotte Sequeira also addressed the gathering and extended their best wishes to the students.

The event was presided over by the principal Lakshminarayan Kamath. NEET coordinator and head of the Biology department Mouneshwara Acharya delivered the introductory address.

As part of the ceremony, the college honoured its outstanding student Anant N K, who secured the 8th rank in the state in the II PUC Science stream final exams, 57th rank in the KCET Engineering stream, and achieved 99.69 percentile in the national-level JEE Mains exam.

Also present on stage were Rudolph Kishore Lobo, principal of the primary school, and Josna Snehalatha, in-charge principal of the high school section.

The event began with a warm welcome by vice principal Dr Prakash Bhat, followed by a vote of thanks delivered by Chemistry lecturer Soumya Nayak. The programme was anchored by Kannada lecturer Umesh Bellippady.
