PM Modi launches campaign to modernise agriculture

Daijiworld Media Network - New Delhi

New Delhi, May 29: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday launched the Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan, urging agricultural scientists and experts to bring research and innovation directly to farmers as a service to the nation.

Speaking ahead of the Kharif season, Modi said that 2,000 teams—comprising scientists, experts, and progressive farmers—will visit over 700 districts in the next two weeks to reach millions of farmers. The goal is to transfer lab-based knowledge to the fields to modernise agriculture and improve productivity.

Modi stressed that while agriculture is traditionally a state subject, it now requires national collaboration to meet emerging challenges like climate change and shifting market demands. He praised scientific progress and called for faster dissemination of successful practices.

Highlighting key areas such as fair pricing, efficient water use, and reduced chemical dependency, Modi said India must aim to become a global food supplier. He also promoted initiatives like beekeeping, solar energy on farms, and waste-to-energy projects to boost farmers’ incomes.

Urging officials to listen to farmers and document their suggestions, Modi said the campaign would help close the gap between science and traditional agriculture, helping India move toward becoming a developed nation.

Anything for the farmers is always welcome !!! First is to produce quantity and also quality matters . Govt must supply good seeds /plants / water , fertilizers and electricity at low rates rest Indian farmers are highly sophisticated and mature . Next is to help them store and transport their produce where they can maximize the benefits ....
