Bengaluru, May 29 :
A domestic dispute turned tragic in Maruthi Nagar near Bengaluru, where a man allegedly killed his wife with a dumbbell before ending his own life.

The deceased have been identified as Basavachari and his wife Suma. The couple had been married for 16 years and lived with their children in Maruthi Nagar. Suma was a native of Hassan, while Basavachari operated a welding shop in the same area.

According to police, the incident occurred on Wednesday morning shortly after the couple sent their children to school. A quarrel reportedly broke out between them during which Basavachari allegedly attacked Suma with a dumbbell.

She sustained grievous head injuries and was found lifeless on the bed. Blood stains were discovered on the bed sheet, floor, and walls, while the dumbbell believed to have been used in the assault was found at the scene.

Basavachari was later found dead in the hall. Preliminary investigation suggests he may have taken his own life after the assault.

Police suspect that ongoing tensions, possibly related to a property dispute, may have triggered the altercation.

A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway.
