Mangaluru, May 30: Due to high rainfall in the twin districts an orange alert has been sounded and holiday declared. Anganwadis and schools in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts will remain closed on May 30. The disaster management authority has taken certain precautions as heavy rain has been pounding the districts for the last few days.
Holiday has been declared for anganwadis, primary and high schools in Dakshina Kannada district including government, aided and unaided private schools.

In view of the heavy rains lashing the region, holiday has been declared for anganwadi centres and classes 1 to 10 in Udupi district. The decision was announced by Udupi deputy commissioner Dr Vidyakumari as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of children. The district administration has urged the public to remain alert and follow updates from official sources.
Parents are asked to ensure that children do not go to low lying areas, lakes, sea shore and river sides. The fishermen too have been warned against venturing into water. Taluk level officers have been asked to remain at the headquarters compulsorily. Nodal officers appointed for various positions by the district administration have been asked to be alert and respond to public complaints. The tahsildar have been directed to be in constant contact.
As a precautionary measure, both residents and tourists are strictly prohibited from approaching beaches, rivers, and waterfalls and are advised against taking photos and videos in these areas.
