Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru (SB)

Mangaluru, June 3: The Konkani Natak Sabha(KNS), a pioneering organisation dedicated to promoting and preserving Konkani art and culture, has announced the schedule for its annual competitions. The events will be held from Sunday, July 7 to Sunday, September 14 at Don Bosco Hall, Mangaluru.

Marking the 61st year of the singing competitions and the 23rd year of the poetry recitation and dance contests, KNS continues its legacy of nurturing talent and celebrating Konkani heritage. This year, newer categories such as Voviyo-Verse and Gumta Podam, which gained popularity in recent editions, will also be featured.

The competitions are open to participants across all age groups — children, youth, and adults. The events will begin with the poetry recitation competition on July 7 and conclude with the grand finale of the singing competitions on September 14.

Over the decades, Konkani Natak Sabha has played a vital role in shaping the region’s cultural landscape. Many renowned singers, dancers, and artistes from the Konkani community began their journeys on the KNS stage. The prize distribution ceremony, held with much pomp at Don Bosco Hall, continues to draw large crowds and create a festive atmosphere in the city.

After successfully hosting editions in Mumbai and Udupi over the past two years, the Sabha has decided to bring all competitions back to a single venue in Mangaluru, rekindling the nostalgia of its golden days.

Participants may register individually or as part of a group. Entry forms are available at the KNS office and at Don Bosco Hall, Mangaluru. For more information, interested individuals may contact the organisers at 8660148257.
