‘Is Rahul Gandhi working for foreign interests?’ BJP lashes out over ‘Surrender’ remark in Bhopal

Bhopal, Jun 4: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) launched a scathing attack on Leader of Opposition (LoP) Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday, raising serious questions about his loyalty to the nation after he accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of “surrendering” to foreign pressure. The BJP even went to the extent of questioning whether the Congress leader was acting on behalf of China and Pakistan.

Speaking at the Congress state office in Bhopal, Rahul Gandhi claimed that PM Modi allegedly surrendered to a call from then-US President Donald Trump, following the Pulwama terror attack. “Just as Trump gestured, Modi ji picked up the phone and said – Narendra... surrender – and blindly obeyed,” Rahul Gandhi alleged, taking a swipe at the PM's foreign policy approach.

Reacting sharply, BJP national spokesperson Dr Sambit Patra released a video statement slamming the Congress leader’s comments as “deeply disrespectful” not only to Prime Minister Modi but also to the Indian Army and the success of Operation Sindoor.

“Using the word ‘surrender’ to describe India’s actions under Modi ji’s leadership is a mockery of our soldiers’ bravery,” Patra said, reminding the nation of the scale of Operation Sindoor, where India had decisively eliminated over 100 terrorists and destroyed eleven Pakistani airbases in a targeted military response.

He noted that such irresponsible remarks raise concerns over Gandhi's political intent. “Who uses such language against their own country? Does he want to demoralise our armed forces? Is Rahul Gandhi working for China or Pakistan?” Patra questioned, reiterating BJP's suspicions over Rahul’s past conduct, including his controversial appearance near Chinese officials during the Doklam standoff.

Drawing a contrast with the response to the 26/11 attacks under the UPA regime, Patra said that India has now moved past “dossier diplomacy” to “decisive retaliation.” “The days of merely sending dossiers are gone. Today, proper doses are delivered,” he asserted.

Patra alleged that Rahul Gandhi’s remarks betray a pattern of undermining India’s armed forces and foreign policy achievements, demanding that the Congress leader explain whom he truly represents when making such statements.

The war of words comes in the backdrop of heightened political tensions as the nation debates national security, foreign diplomacy, and the role of opposition leaders in safeguarding or challenging India’s global image.
