Gwalior, Jun 4: An 18-year-old student in Gwalior died by suicide on Wednesday, a day after the National Testing Agency released the NEET answer key, police said. The boy, who had been preparing for the medical entrance exam for two years, shot himself with his father’s licensed gun.

The NEET exam was held on May 4, with the answer key released on Tuesday. According to Superintendent of Police Nagendra Sikarwar, the boy became depressed over his poor expected score. When asked about his results, he did not respond and later took his own life in a bedroom, dying instantly.

No suicide note was found at the scene. The police have collected the gun’s fingerprints for forensic analysis. The boy’s father said, “He was working hard to fulfill his dream of becoming a doctor, but we were unaware of the pressure he was facing.”
