Mangaluru, Jun 5: In a remarkable musical feat, coastal Karnataka’s Yashavanth M G has entered the Golden Book of World Records by singing 270 songs of legendary playback singer Dr SP Balasubrahmanyam non-stop for 24 hours.

The event, titled Baalagaana Yashoyana, began at 3 pm on Tuesday at the Town Hall and concluded at 3 pm on Wednesday. The solo singing marathon was held to mark the birth anniversary of Dr SP Balasubrahmanyam, whom Yashavanth paid tribute to through this extraordinary performance.

Dr Manish Vishnoi, Asia Head of the Golden Book of World Records, personally presented the certificate to Yashavanth in the presence of dignitaries after witnessing the event.

Prior to the presentation, Dr Vishnoi greeted the audience in Kannada saying, ‘Maateregla Namaskara’, and praised Yashavanth’s dedication. “No one has ever celebrated SPB’s birthday like this. Singing non-stop for 24 hours is no ordinary task. I have witnessed many world records, but never one as melodious as this,” he said.

Udupi district BJP president Kishore Kumar, who also addressed the gathering, remarked, “When an artiste is preserved, art survives.”

Among those present at the event were Mangaluru ACP Geetha Kulkarni, Daijiworld media founder and managing director Walter Nandalike, Excellent Group of Institutions president Yuvraj Jain from Moodbidri, former assistant commissioner Prabhakar Sharma, entrepreneurs Poornachandra Jain and G S Kamath, social activist Prakash Malpe, former corporator Jagadish Shetty, and Yashavanth’s mother, Hemavathi.
