Mangaluru: Expert PU College celebrates Vanamahotsava on Environmental Day 2025

Mangaluru, Jun 5: Expert Pre-University College, Valachil, Mangaluru, marked Vanamahotsava on Environmental Day 2025 with great enthusiasm, adopting the theme 'Let's Join for a Greener Future' and emphasising the need to end plastic pollution.

The event was graced by Raghu D, deputy conservator of Forests and regional director, CRZ Mangaluru, as the chief guest. He inaugurated the programme by planting a sapling and delivered an inspiring message on the significance of Vanamahotsava. Raghu emphasised the importance of conserving forests and nature for a sustainable future, urging the gathering to appreciate and protect the natural gifts bestowed upon us.

Prof Narendra L Nayak, chairman of Expert Group of Institutions, highlighted the institution's commitment to environmental conservation, elaborating on how every development activity promotes eco-friendliness. Dr Ushaprabha N Nayak, vice chairperson, stressed that individual efforts, no matter how small, can contribute significantly to conservation.

The event saw active participation from staff and students, who planted saplings across the campus, pledging their support for a greener future. Student Vaishnavi Gururaj welcomed the dignitaries, hosted the event, and proposed a vote of thanks.

The programme was attended by Ankush N Nayak, IT director; Dr N K Vijayan Karippal, principal; Subramanya Udupa, vice principal (Academics); Dhruthi V Hegde, vice principal (Administrative), Anitha P Shetty (chief residential mentor) and Ramya Gatty, programme director.
