Toddler raped under Lucknow metro station; police launch manhunt

Lucknow, Jun 6: A three-year-old girl is in critical condition after allegedly being raped in Lucknow on Wednesday night. The horrific incident occurred while the child, whose parents are daily wage laborers, was sleeping under a metro station.

Police reported that the assailant abducted the girl from where her parents were sleeping and subjected her to the assault at a secluded location.

Upon receiving the report, senior officials, including Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Ashish Kumar Srivastav, immediately visited the crime scene on Wednesday night. The young victim was rushed to a local hospital and subsequently referred to a higher medical center due to her critical condition.

"A case has been registered under relevant sections at Alambagh police station, and a thorough investigation is underway," stated DCP Srivastav. He added that five teams have been formed to investigate the incident and apprehend the culprit. Authorities are actively reviewing CCTV footage in an effort to identify the accused.
