New Delhi, Jun 8: A harrowing incident has come to light in Delhi's Dayalpur area, where a minor girl was found allegedly raped and subsequently died after being stuffed into a suitcase. The horrifying discovery was made Saturday evening in a flat in Nehru Vihar, hours after her family began a frantic search for her.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (North East), Ashish Mishra, a PCR call was received around 8:40 PM on Saturday reporting a nine-year-old girl found injured. "Upon reaching Gali No. 2 in Nehru Vihar, the Dayalpur police team found that a minor girl in an unconscious state had already been transported to the hospital by her father," Mishra stated.
Police teams quickly arrived at the hospital, where doctors, following a preliminary examination, declared the child deceased. Disturbingly, initial assessments indicated signs of sexual assault.
A case has been registered at Dayalpur police station under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including 103(1) pertaining to murder, and Section 6 of the POCSO Act, which addresses aggravated sexual assault.
Following the discovery of the suitcase, crime and forensic science laboratory teams immediately converged on the scene for inspection. Multiple police teams have since been deployed, meticulously reviewing CCTV footage from the vicinity in an effort to identify and apprehend the perpetrator(s).
The devastated father of the deceased girl, currently on his way to the mortuary for his child's post-mortem, stated, "We have not received any information yet. We will find out more when we get there, as the police have called us."
Earlier on Saturday afternoon, the girl's family had raised an alarm when she failed to return after delivering ice to her aunt's residence. Subsequent inquiries within the colony reportedly revealed that a man had taken the girl to his flat. When the family reached the said flat, they found it locked. The homeowner informed them that his brother held the keys to the apartment. After the lock was forcibly opened, the disrobed girl was tragically discovered in an unconscious state inside a suitcase.
