Kadaba: Youth drowns in river while bathing near Ichchamapady

Kadaba, Jun 9: In a tragic incident, a 21-year-old youth drowned while bathing in a river near Ichchamapady in Kadaba taluk on Sunday afternoon.

The deceased has been identified as Chetan Shetty, son of Jayananda Shetty, a resident of Kedembelu in Ichchamapady village. Chetan was employed as a medical representative in Mangaluru.

On Sunday, Chetan had come to his hometown and was playing cricket with a group of local youths. Later in the afternoon, he entered the Gundya stream near Islamapady for a bath. Unfortunately, unaware of the depth of the water, he drowned.

Local resident Joy managed to retrieve the body from the water. A post-mortem examination was conducted at Kadaba Community Health Centre.

Kadaba police visited the spot, conducted an inspection, and have registered a case in connection with the incident.

Chetan is survived by his father, mother, and a brother. He was known as a skilled kabaddi and cricket player and had earned recognition in local sports circles.
