Puttur: Girl Drowns in Rivulet, Another Rescued

Puttur, Jan 26: A student accidentally slipped and drowned in Kapila rivulet near Nelyady on Wednesday January 25 and lost her life. Another girl who also had fallen into the water was rescued.

The deceased has been identified as Sahana Patwardhan (18), daughter of Ramesh Patwardhan from Ujire, and a second pre university class student of SDM College Ujire. She had accompanied a group of five girls who had visited Shishila temple on Wednesday. Sahana was taking snaps of rare kinds of fish which abound in Meenagundi inside the rivulet near the temple, when she lost her balance and fell into the rivulet, it is gathered.

It is learnt that another girl also fell into the rivulet while trying to save Sahana. She was rescued by some women, who saw her falling into the water from a distance.

A case in this connection was registered in Uppinangady police station.
