Gidderbaha, Jun 11: Tragedy struck Gurusar village in Gidderbaha as a suspected case of food poisoning claimed two lives, prompting police to register a murder case against a family member. The shocking incident has left the local community reeling, as suspicions of foul play deepen.
Jaswinder Kaur, the mother of the deceased Shivtar Singh, passed away late Tuesday night, just a day after her son died under mysterious circumstances following a meal at their home. Shivtar, aged around 40, collapsed on Monday night shortly after dinner and could not be revived.

Surjit Singh, Shivtar’s father, remains in critical condition, while Shivtar’s wife, Khushmandeep Kaur—now the prime suspect—has been hospitalised and is reported to be in stable condition.
Based on a complaint filed by Jagtar Singh, Shivtar’s brother, the police have booked Khushmandeep under charges of murder. According to the family, the couple had been facing marital discord despite having tied the knot earlier this year.
Disturbing accounts from visitors suggest that the chapatis served during the meal had a pungent smell, suspected to be that of pesticide—raising alarming questions about intentional contamination.
Police are awaiting forensic reports to confirm the presence of toxins in the food. Investigations are ongoing as the community mourns the loss of two lives under chilling circumstances.
