Jhunjhunu, Jun 12: In a shocking and heartbreaking incident, an Indian Army jawan, who was on leave and set to rejoin duty, was allegedly beaten to death by two local youths in Palota Ka Bas village under Surajgarh police station limits of Jhunjhunu district, Rajasthan.

The deceased has been identified as 40-year-old Havildar Vikram Singh, who was serving in the 18 Raj Rifles and stationed in Abohar, Punjab. He had arrived in his native village on leave on June 7 and was scheduled to return to duty on Tuesday night.

According to a complaint filed by Vikram’s brother, Vinod Kumar, the jawan was intercepted by two youths while on his way out of the village. The accused, travelling in a Scorpio SUV, allegedly abducted Vikram and forcibly took him to their house, where he was mercilessly assaulted. In a severely injured state, he was later dumped outside the assailants’ residence.

Upon receiving the distress call, Vikram’s family rushed him to a nearby hospital, but it was too late. Doctors declared him brought dead.

Station Officer Hemraj Meena confirmed that a case of murder has been registered, and two suspects have been detained for questioning. “We are investigating mobile tower locations, call details, and other electronic evidence to determine the motive behind this brutal act,” he said.

Sources indicate that Vikram Singh was nearing retirement, with just a year left in service. The gruesome murder has sent waves of grief and outrage across the village and the armed forces fraternity.

The police investigation is underway, with pressure mounting to bring justice swiftly to the family of the slain jawan.

Very sad to hear this. Why do we have this type of violence on our working soldiers where braves come to this ending instead of rewarding ?.
