Mumbai, Jun 12: In a major breakthrough in the high-profile murder case of NCP leader and former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique, Zeeshan Akhtar, one of the key conspirators, has reportedly been arrested in Canada. The information was confirmed by Maharashtra Minister of State for Home, Yogesh Kadam, on Wednesday.
According to sources, Zeeshan (22) was apprehended by Canadian authorities in connection with a fake passport case. Indian officials are now working to extradite him to India for further interrogation.

Speaking to PTI Videos, Minister Kadam said, “Zeeshan, who played a role in the murder of Baba Siddique, has been arrested in Canada. The necessary process to bring him back is underway, and once in our custody, further interrogation will be carried out.”
Mumbai Police investigations revealed that the murder was orchestrated by Anmol Bishnoi, brother of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. Zeeshan Akhtar, along with another accused Shubham Lonkar, had allegedly been hired on contract to execute the killing.
The sensational murder took place on October 12, 2024, when Baba Siddique was gunned down in Bandra, sending shockwaves across Maharashtra’s political circles.
So far, police have arrested at least 25 individuals in connection with the case, which continues to unfold new leads. The arrest of Zeeshan in Canada marks a significant step in the ongoing pursuit of justice.
