LIC, Bajaj Allianz announce support measures for victims families

Ahmedabad, Jun 13: In a compassionate move following the tragic crash of Air India flight AI-171 in Ahmedabad, the Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) and private insurer Bajaj Allianz Life have rolled out special measures to assist the families of the victims.

LIC announced that it would fast-track claim settlements and offer significant concessions to ease the burden on grieving families. “LIC of India expresses deep grief over the death of on-board passengers and crew members of Air India flight AI-171 and also people on the ground who were killed due to the plane crash,” the insurer said.

To simplify the process, LIC will accept government records or official compensation documents as proof of death in place of standard death certificates. Families can approach the nearest LIC branch or contact the call centre at 022-68276827 for assistance.

Bajaj Allianz Life Insurance also set up a dedicated claims desk to prioritise death and disability claims linked to the crash.

The gesture comes as Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the crash site and met the injured at Ahmedabad Civil Hospital. Sharing his sorrow on X, PM Modi said the nation stands united in grief.
