Mangaluru: Retired police officer seriously injured after scooter falls into pit

Mangaluru, Jun 14: A scooter rider sustained serious injuries after falling into a pit dug for a pipeline project near Pandith House in Thokkottu. The incident occurred on a road stretch where the Ullal City Municipality is undertaking underground pipeline works. A case has been registered at the South Traffic police station.

The injured has been identified as B R Badiger, a retired KSRP police officer. He was travelling from Kuthar towards Tokkottu when his scooter fell into the pit dug for pipeline works near Pandith House.

This area had previously witnessed a fatal accident when a woman lost her life while crossing the same road.

Ullal City Municipality officials clarified that the current work is temporary and a permanent solution will be implemented soon. The traffic police have registered a case and are investigating.
