Mumbai, Jun 15: Lenovo has once again turned heads with the latest addition to its premium laptop lineup — the Yoga Slim 7i Aura Edition. Touted as an ultra-portable productivity beast, this sleek new model brings a refined design, impressive display specs, and the latest Intel Core Ultra processors to the table. But does it truly live up to its “Aura” moniker? Here’s a deep dive into what works — and what doesn’t.
The Yoga Slim 7i Aura Edition sports a Luna Grey hue and reflects the minimalist design legacy Lenovo is known for. Weighing just 1.46 kg and crafted using a sustainable mix of raw and recycled aluminium, it feels both sturdy and refined. A smudge-resistant coating is a thoughtful touch, ensuring the sleekness remains intact even during heavy usage.
Despite its slim build and solid chassis, the hinge design disappoints. Opening the laptop with one hand is near impossible, and the hinge’s stiffness takes away from what should be a seamless user experience — especially considering this is not a 2-in-1 model. While it can lay flat at 180 degrees, the absence of full rotation limits the touchscreen's potential.
Port selection, however, is quite generous for a slim device — featuring dual USB Type-C ports, a USB Type-A, HDMI, audio jack, camera kill switch, and a power button.
Sporting a 15.3-inch 2.8K IPS touchscreen, the Slim 7i Aura dazzles with sharp visuals, accurate colours, and a fluid 120Hz refresh rate. The 500 nits brightness and 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut make it ideal for streaming, editing, and general multimedia use.
However, Lenovo’s decision to skip a touchscreen OLED option feels like a missed opportunity. While this IPS panel holds its own, it can’t match the depth and contrast of an OLED — which is especially evident during dark scenes or high-contrast media consumption.
• Keyboard: Lenovo hits the sweet spot with a backlit, oil-resistant keyboard offering 1.5mm key travel. Typing feels natural and fatigue-free, thanks to its soft-touch keys and thoughtful spacing.
• Touchpad: Smooth and responsive, it pairs well with Windows gestures and offers ample space for navigation.
• Audio: The quad-speaker setup with Dolby Atmos delivers clear and immersive sound. Whether it's a Zoom call or a Netflix binge, the audio doesn’t disappoint.
• Webcam: A 1080p IR webcam ensures sharp visuals for video calls and adds a layer of biometric security with facial recognition support.
The Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i Aura Edition makes a solid case for being a premium everyday laptop with just the right blend of performance, style, and usability. While the lack of a 2-in-1 hinge and OLED touchscreen might deter a few, its feather-light build, crisp display, and refined typing experience make it a great pick for professionals and students alike.
