Mangaluru, Jun 15: Heavy rains have once again lashed Mangaluru, creating flood-like conditions in parts of the city. A compound wall collapsed in the Suvarna Lane area of Kankanady, with the dramatic moment caught on a home CCTV camera.
The wall fell across the road with great force, damaging the gates and walls of nearby houses. Fortunately, there were no pedestrians or vehicles on the road at the time, narrowly averting a major tragedy.
The collapsing wall also caused damage to the compound across the road. The impact was so intense that the gate fixed to the house’s compound was ripped off. The incident looked like an explosion, and even electricity poles were brought down.
A power pole broke in two, causing a short circuit. Just a minute before the collapse, an auto and a motorcycle had passed the spot. Authorities believe the situation could have turned deadly had the collapse occurred moments earlier.
