Media Release

Mangaluru, Jun 16: Podar International School, proudly hosted the School Council Investiture Ceremony 2025 to mark the democratic election and induction of its newly elected Provisional School Council comprising 32 student leaders. The event stood as a beacon of the school's commitment to nurturing responsible, value-driven, and democratically aware citizens from an early age.

The ceremony began with a formal introduction of the newly elected council members to the school community. Each leader was conferred with a badge of responsibility, and the school flag was ceremoniously handed over to head girl Prakanya P and head boy Abhiram P Nair. Flags representing the four student Houses Aqua, Ignis, Terra, and Ventus were also presented to their respective house captains, symbolizing the official transfer of leadership responsibilities.

In a moving and symbolic gesture, the council members took their oath of office, pledging to uphold the values of integrity, fairness, and teamwork in the presence of the entire school.

Dr Girish Kumar, principal of Podar International School Mangaluru, administered the oath and delivered a thought-provoking address, highlighting the importance of building character and embracing the core values of democracy and citizenship. “Leadership is not about position, but about values. Every individual is important, and a good leader respects and empowers others,” he said. He further emphasised the development of essential 21st-century skills, including social-emotional intelligence, digital literacy, and leadership acumen, as the foundation of modern student leadership.

A soulful rendition of ‘We Shall Overcome’ filled the hall with inspiration, followed by a graceful classical dance performance presented by the school’s cultural team in honour of the new council.

The ceremony concluded with heartfelt speeches by the head girl and head boy, both of whom expressed gratitude and promised to work towards the holistic development of the school with unity and inclusiveness. They invited their peers to collaborate and contribute to the initiatives planned for the upcoming academic year.

As per the school’s unique policy, the council will function in a provisional capacity for 45 days, after which the final Investiture and pinning ceremony will be held on August 15, in the presence of the parents of the elected council members, formally recognizing them as permanent student leaders.

This inspiring event was not just a celebration of student leadership but also a reaffirmation of Podar International School’s vision to instil democratic values and responsible citizenship among its students ensuring that every child understands the power of choice and the responsibility it brings.
