Mumbai, Jun 17: Indian automobile giant Mahindra & Mahindra is gearing up to roll out a refreshed version of its popular SUV – the XUV700. Launched in August 2021, the XUV700 quickly became a crowd-favourite, and now, for the first time, its facelift version has been spotted undergoing road tests.
The camouflaged test vehicle, recently seen on Indian roads, hints at subtle yet notable cosmetic changes, especially to the front profile. Enthusiasts will notice a redesigned front grille that adopts a slanted stance with vertical slats – a departure from the current design. Interestingly, the test model sported circular headlamps reminiscent of the rugged Mahindra Thar, though these might change in the final production model. Fog lamps appeared to be missing on the prototype.
While the side profile, rear taillights, and alloy wheels seem to mirror the current model, the facelift hints at a more polished visual identity aimed at retaining its premium appeal.
According to sources, the upcoming XUV700 facelift is likely to receive a host of new-age features. Expectations are high that it will borrow design elements from Mahindra’s futuristic XUV.e9 concept, including a revamped dashboard layout. Among the speculated additions are front and rear ventilated seats, a more advanced Harman Kardon sound system, a digital key, and even a self-parking feature – a first in its segment.
Under the hood, the facelift is expected to retain its tried-and-tested powertrain – the 2.0-litre turbo petrol and 2.2-litre turbo diesel engines, coupled with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic torque converter gearbox. Mahindra is also rumoured to be exploring a plug-in hybrid variant, catering to evolving consumer preferences and tightening emission norms.
With the updated XUV700 expected to hit the Indian market in 2026, auto enthusiasts and Mahindra loyalists are eagerly awaiting its official reveal. The facelift promises to blend rugged power with tech-laden luxury – continuing Mahindra's commitment to innovation on wheels.
