Kasargod, Jun 18: In a tragic incident, a 22-year-old youth from Bengaluru drowned in a pond near Talangare in Kasargod on Wednesday June 18. The deceased has been identified as Faizan (22), a resident of DJ Halli, Bengaluru. His younger brother Saqlain (20) has been admitted to a hospital in Kasargod in critical condition.
The incident occurred when a group had arrived at the Malik Dinar Mosque in Talangare. Some members of the group went to bathe in the pond located behind the mosque, during which Saqlain began to drown. Faizan reportedly jumped into the water in an attempt to save his brother but unfortunately drowned in the process.

Fire and emergency personnel from Kasargod arrived at the scene and rescued both individuals from the pond. They were immediately shifted to the hospital, but Faizan could not be saved.
A group of 11 individuals from Bengaluru had travelled to Kasargod for ziyarat (pilgrimage) at the Malik Dinar Mosque. The deceased's body has been placed at the mortuary of the Kasargod General Hospital.
It is reported that the pond was overflowing due to heavy rains, which may have contributed to the tragedy. The brothers had arrived in Kasargod on Tuesday and were scheduled to return to Bengaluru on Wednesday afternoon.
