Puttur, Jun 18: Srikanth Poojary Biravu from Puttur taluk in Dakshina Kannada district has been selected as the youth ambassador from Karnataka for this year's Independence Day celebrations to be held in Delhi under the 'My Bharat' initiative.
The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, through My Bharat (Nehru Yuva Kendra, New Delhi), selects youth ambassadors aged between 15 and 28 from each state. This year, Srikanth Biravu will represent Karnataka as a special youth ambassador, according to a release by Ullas, district youth officer of Nehru Yuva Kendra Mangaluru, and administrative officer Jagadeesh.

Srikanth has been actively involved in youth empowerment for several years. As a youth trainer, he has conducted over 500 programmes across Karnataka, reaching around 90,000 young people. His sessions have covered life skills, career guidance, leadership training, and entrepreneurship. He has also organised 13 job fairs in Dakshina Kannada district, helping several youths secure employment.
Addressing social issues such as social media addiction and substance abuse, Srikanth has conducted awareness campaigns across villages. He has coordinated several central and state government youth programmes in the district. He has also participated in a Youth Champions programme in Delhi and has served as a judge for events in Karnataka and Kerala.
Internationally, Srikanth has served as a life skills and entrepreneurship trainer for the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), a career guidance trainer for UNICEF, and a life skills trainer for the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS), Bengaluru.
A noted writer and poet, Srikanth has participated in various literary events and his articles have appeared in several publications. In recognition of his contributions to youth development, he has received the State Excellence in Life Skills Facilitation Award from the Karnataka government, the Swami Vivekananda State Sadbhavana Award from the State Youth Federation, the ‘Mom’s in Fire’ Award, the State Sadhana Shree Award, and the Sahitya Saraswati title.
He completed his primary education at DKZP Higher Primary School, Ragi Kumari Bappaligé, high school and pre-university at SPPU College, Kombettu, and earned his undergraduate degree from Vivekananda Degree College, Puttur. He holds a postgraduate degree in Economics from Mangalore University.
Srikanth will represent Karnataka as a special youth ambassador at the Independence Day celebrations in Delhi on August 15.
