Prashant Kishor slams PM Modi’s Bihar visit as ‘Vote drive, not development’

Patna, Jun 20: Jan Suraaj founder Prashant Kishor on Friday launched a sharp critique of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent visit to Bihar, alleging that the trip was politically motivated and not focused on the welfare of the state.

Kishor said, “PM Modi is not coming for the development of Bihar but to seek votes for the BJP and NDA. He is not here for the first time, and the people of Bihar are well aware of the pattern.”

Pointing to government claims about new development projects, Kishor questioned their authenticity. “The locomotive factory in Marhowrah already exists. These are not new initiatives, just old ones being repackaged,” he said.

Kishor accused the Prime Minister of sidestepping critical issues like the closure of sugar mills and the state’s persistent migration crisis. “Lakhs of Bihari youth still migrate in search of jobs. People want to know when this will stop,” he remarked.

He alleged that Bihar’s development has taken a backseat while factories and employment opportunities continue to be concentrated in states like Gujarat. “Why are factories only coming up in Gujarat? Why do Bihari youth have to go there to work?” Kishor asked, highlighting that both the Centre and the state are governed by the NDA.

Reiterating his earlier stance during a speech in Gopalganj, Kishor described Modi’s third visit to Bihar in two months as part of a “set pattern” of electioneering disguised as government work. “Taxpayers' money is being used for political campaigning. This happened in Madhubani and is now happening here,” he said.

Bihar is expected to go to polls later this year in October or November. However, the Election Commission has yet to announce the official dates.
