Muzaffarnagar, Jun 20: In a shocking incident from Rodkali village, a 24-year-old woman allegedly poisoned her two children to death in order to start a new life with her lover, police said on Friday.

The accused, Muskan, has been arrested, while her alleged lover Junaid is absconding. The victims—five-year-old Arhan and one-year-old Enaya—were found dead under suspicious circumstances at their home on Thursday.

Senior Superintendent of Police Sanjay Kumar said, “Investigation revealed the mother’s role in the deaths. She was taken into custody and confessed to the crime during interrogation.”

According to police, Muskan told investigators that she viewed her children as an obstacle in her relationship with Junaid and decided to eliminate them. She allegedly administered poison to both children, resulting in their deaths.

Muskan's husband, Waseem, works in Chandigarh. Police revealed that Muskan and Junaid had been in an illicit relationship for some time and had even planned a “honeymoon” after killing the children.

A manhunt is underway to trace Junaid, and further investigations are ongoing.
