Udupi, Jun 21: The CISCE Zonal Karate Championship was hosted with great enthusiasm at Silas International School, Udupi, drawing participation from ICSE schools across Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts.

The championship commenced with a formal inaugural ceremony, beginning with a prayer song and a graceful dance performance by the students of the host school. Principal Jacintha Saldanha, in her welcome address, encouraged the participants by highlighting that as karate champions, they exemplify values such as respect, self-control, and resilience. She lauded the students for their dedication to the sport and urged them to continue pursuing excellence.

Shihaan Keerthi G K, the chief guest for the occasion, emphasized the importance of balancing sports with academics. He noted that karate is an ideal sport as it not only promotes physical well-being but also sharpens mental strength. The event was officially inaugurated with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp, symbolizing wisdom, knowledge, and enlightenment.

The championship saw spirited participation from boys and girls across multiple categories. Matches were overseen and judged by a team of qualified referees and officials, ensuring a fair and well-organized competition throughout the day.

The winners in each category were felicitated during the valedictory ceremony. The championship concluded with a formal vote of thanks and the rendition of the National Anthem, marking the end of a successful and inspiring sporting event.
