Gorakhpur, Jun 21: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath led the 11th International Yoga Day celebrations in Gorakhpur on Saturday, joined by local ministers, MPs, and hundreds of citizens. The event was part of a nationwide movement, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself leading a mass session in Visakhapatnam.

Welcoming participants, Yogi said, “Yoga Day is not only being celebrated here in Gorakhpur, but across India and the world. I extend my warm wishes to everyone on this occasion.” He commended PM Modi for making yoga a global phenomenon through sustained efforts, including its recognition by the United Nations.

“Yoga has been part of our ancient culture, mentioned in the Vedas and Puranas. It helps us stay healthy, achieve our goals, and also strengthens us spiritually,” he said.

Highlighting yoga as India’s gift to the world, Yogi noted, “Earlier, countries were trying to patent different yoga postures. But PM Modi brought global recognition to yoga, reviving and safeguarding our heritage.”

He wished all citizens good health and well-being, adding, “Spiritual strength comes through the body and yoga. It leads us toward public welfare.”

Meanwhile, PM Modi performed yoga along the scenic Visakhapatnam coastline, joined by nearly three lakh people, as Indian Navy ships stood anchored in the backdrop. Calling yoga a universal practice that transcends age and borders, the prime minister said it unites humanity in health and harmony.

Yoga Day celebrations saw enthusiastic participation from across the country and abroad, highlighting India’s soft power and spiritual legacy.
