Mangaluru, Jun 21: St Theresa’s School marked a momentous occasion on Saturday, June 21, with the formal inauguration of the Little Champions Play Corner, a dedicated play area designed to enhance the physical, social, and emotional development of its early learners. The initiative underscores the institution’s ongoing commitment to providing a well-rounded, child-centric education.

The ceremony, held on the school premises, was attended by dignitaries, staff, students, and parents, and commenced with a ceremonial welcome by the school band, whose rhythmic performance set an enthusiastic tone for the event.

The inauguration was presided over by Sr Shaila BS, Central Delegation superior and correspondent of the school. In her keynote address, she emphasized the critical importance of play in childhood development. “Play fosters creativity, self-confidence, and lifelong learning. This facility represents more than recreation it is a space where imagination, discovery, and growth converge,” she remarked. Sr Shaila formally inaugurated the play area by cutting the ribbon.

Following the inauguration, Fr Vivek, assistant parish priest of St Sebastian Church, blessed the play corner, invoking God’s protection and grace over the children who will use it. In a symbolic gesture of hope, purity, and new beginnings, Ganesh B, proprietor of Natural Medical Shop and guest of honour, released a dove and commended the school for its thoughtful and forward-looking initiative.

A special feature of the programme was the compering by the school’s youngest students, who brought a delightful and heartwarming touch to the event.

The Little Champions Play Corner includes a variety of colorful and safe play equipment such as swings, slides, tunnels, and climbing structures, all designed to support motor skills, coordination, and collaborative play among children. Safety and age-appropriateness were paramount in the planning and execution of the project.

In her address, principal Sr Lourdes expressed sincere gratitude to all who supported the initiative including the management, faculty, parents, benefactors, and support staff.

The ceremony concluded with a formal vote of thanks. As a mark of appreciation, each contributor was felicitated with a sapling, symbolizing growth, sustainability, and shared responsibility. The sound of children’s laughter and joy filled the air, breathing life into the play corner and signaling the beginning of countless treasured memories to come.
