Mathura, Jun 22: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has apprehended a man from Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, for allegedly sexually assaulting minor children and possessing child sexual abuse material (CSAM). The accused, identified as Shyam Bihari, is now in custody following the agency's proactive measures that led to the rescue of several children.
In a statement, a CBI spokesperson emphasized the agency's commitment to combat child sexual exploitation. The case was registered on June 17, based on serious allegations regarding the creation, collection, storage, and dissemination of CSAM depicting minors in explicit sexual acts. The accused was found in possession of pornographic content involving children, violating existing laws.

Following searches conducted on June 19 at Bihari's residence, incriminating electronic devices were seized. Forensic analysis revealed a significant volume of CSAM, including images and videos, which were corroborated with data from Interpol’s International Child Sexual Exploitation (ICSE) database and Cyber Tipline Reports from Google.
The investigation uncovered disturbing content depicting minors being raped, sexually assaulted, and harassed, with the accused allegedly taking obscene photographs of the children. The CBI acted swiftly to identify, locate, and rescue the minor victims, although the exact number of children rescued has not been disclosed.
This case underscores the importance of cyber intelligence and international cooperation in addressing such heinous crimes. The CBI urges citizens to report any suspicions of child sexual abuse to the appropriate authorities.
In a related development, the agency had previously arrested a man from Hisar on June 4 in a separate case involving child sexual abuse. The ICSE database, which facilitates data sharing on child sexual abuse cases across 70 countries, has been instrumental in identifying thousands of victims and offenders.
Child sexual abuse is punishable under the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act and the Information Technology Act in India. The government continues to take steps to eliminate child pornography and protect children from sexual exploitation online.
