International Yoga Day celebration at Carmel Central School, Kotekar

Mangaluru, Jun 22: Carmel School, Kotekar (CBSE), observed International Yoga Day on June 21, with great zeal and reverence, embracing the global spirit of health, harmony, and inner peace. The celebration took place in the school, with the objective of fostering awareness about the holistic benefits of yoga physically, mentally, and spiritually.

The event commenced on a serene note with a prayer song led by the students, invoking peace and mindfulness. Risharya delivered a warm welcome address, highlighting the significance of the day and extending greetings to the chief guest, dignitaries, and all attendees.

The school had the privilege of welcoming Dr Ajithesha N H, lecturer, department of human consciousness and yogic sciences, Mangalore University, Mangalagangothri, as the chief guest and resource person. His presence, along with that of principal Sr Pramila D’Souza, vice principal Sr Anitha, and coordinator Roopa, added great value to the occasion.

Dr Ajithesha set a reflective tone with the chanting of a yoga mantra, creating an atmosphere of calm and focus. In his insightful address, he elaborated on the essence of yoga as a union of the mind, body, and soul. He also shared practical tips on integrating yoga into daily life for improved well-being and inner tranquility.

A demonstration of yoga asanas followed, where students participated with great enthusiasm and discipline. The session was centered around four key aspects: Mind (mindfulness practices), Body (physical postures and strength), Soul (inner awareness), Pranayama (controlled breathing techniques).

The celebration concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Harshika, who expressed gratitude to the chief guest, school management, staff, and students for their contributions and support.

The programme was smoothly and effectively compered by Kangna, whose confident anchoring ensured a seamless flow of events.

The observance of International Yoga Day at Carmel School was not merely a celebration, but a meaningful reminder of the discipline, balance, and inner harmony that yoga instils in people's lives.
