Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College & Hospital (FMHMC) observes International Yoga Day

Mangaluru, Jun 23: The International Yoga Day 2025 was observed with full reverence and enthusiasm by Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College & Hospital (FMHMCH) with active participation at Mini Town Hall, Mangaluru and Father Muller Charitable Institutions.

The Dakshina Kannada District Administration and Department of AYUSH, in collaboration with AYUSH Medical Colleges and Yoga associations celebrated International Yoga Day 2025 on June 21 at Kudmal Rangarao, Mini Town Hall, Mangaluru.

The event commenced with a prayer and ceremonial lamp lighting, graced by dignitaries including H V Darshan, IAS, deputy commissioner; Dr Mohammed Iqbal, District AYUSH officer; Dr Y Bharath Shetty and D Vedavyasa Kamath, MLAs; and Captain Brijesh Chowta, MP.

Yoga Guru Gopalakrishna Delampady led the session, guiding participants through asanas and breathing techniques promoting holistic well-being. Around 26 BHMS students from FMHMC, Deralakatte actively participated, reflecting their commitment to AYUSH principles and public health collaboration.

Father Muller Charitable Institutions (FMCI) hosted a grand Yoga Day celebration on June 21 at the Indoor Stadium, themed ‘Yoga for Self and Society – One Earth, One Health.’ Over 1,500 students and faculty from all units participated in coordinated attire.

Fr Faustine Lucas Lobo, director, FMCI, delivered the presidential address, emphasising yoga as a path to balance in modern life. Administrators and principals of all colleges were present during the event.

The session was led by Dr Nisha C, yoga instructor, Department of Yoga and Naturopathy, FMHMCH who demonstrated and carried out various yogasanas in the event.

Sandrasen P, IV BHMS, a distinguished yogasana practitioner with notable achievements:

Honored by the Central Ministry (2022)
Five-time State Gold Medalist (2018–2022)
National School Games Winner (Kolkata – 2019, New Delhi – 2022)
Gold Medalist in Artistic Single Yogasana (2021)
Champion at Kerala School Games (2019).

She was joined by Prajwal, IV BHMS – State Gold Medalist (2018, 2019), national-level participant and Arjun Kumar, II BHMS, Sowhardhika K H I BHMS, and Kushi M R, I BHMS.

FMHMC was represented by 105 students, underlining its active role in wellness and community engagement.
