Udaipur, Jun 24: A 30-year-old French national has alleged that she was raped by a 28-year-old man after a party in Udaipur late Monday night, police said.

The incident reportedly took place after a gathering at a local café, where the woman, along with friends, had gone for dinner. Udaipur SP Yogesh Goyal said the accused, identified as Pushparaj Ojha alias Siddharth, took the woman to his rented flat in Sukher and sexually assaulted her.

The survivor, who has been in India since April 17, had reached Udaipur on June 22. In her complaint, she stated that after meeting the accused at the party, he invited her for a smoke and then suggested a drive. She alleged that she repeatedly asked to be dropped back at her hotel, but he instead took her to his apartment.

The woman’s phone battery had drained, and when she asked for help to recharge it, the accused allegedly forced himself on her. She said he dropped her at her hotel around 6 am on Tuesday.

The survivor shared the ordeal with her two friends, who then rushed her to a private hospital and alerted the police. Based on her initial statement, an FIR under Section 64(1) (rape) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita was filed at Badgaon police station.

Badgaon SHO Pooran Singh confirmed that a search is underway to trace the absconding accused. The French embassy in Delhi has also been informed. The woman is currently under medical care and will be questioned in detail once discharged.
