Dubai, Jun 25: After months of meticulous planning and preparation, Mangalore Konkans Dubai (MKD) is proud to present 'Mattov', an exclusive gathering uniting Karnataka’s vibrant socio-cultural associations across the UAE.
Scheduled for Saturday, June 28, at the Lavender Hotel, Al Qusais, the event will commence promptly at 7 pm — in keeping with MKD’s strong tradition of punctuality. As always, guests will be welcomed in true Mangalurean style, featuring a traditional brass band procession, setting the tone for an evening of culture, unity, and pride.

• Dr B R Shetty
A globally celebrated entrepreneur and visionary philanthropist, Dr Bavaguthu Raghuram Shetty is the founder of NMC Healthcare. A recipient of the Order of Abu Dhabi (2005), and India’s Padma Shri and Pravasi Bharatiya Samman (2009), Dr Shetty is a true icon whose legacy of service continues to inspire generations across both India and the UAE.

He is also behind Grand Infinity Medical Centre and Vibrant Star Building Construction, and was recognized among the Top 10 Successful Entrepreneurs of 2022. His dedication to preserving and promoting Mangalurean culture adds great value to this event.

Honoring Heritage and Excellence
'Sadhan Puraskar', a prestigious award established by MKD to recognize exceptional contributions to Konkani art, culture, and community service will be ceremoniously unveiled. The inaugural honor will be bestowed upon Alwyn Pinto, celebrating his remarkable achievements in the cultural sphere and his unwavering commitment to social upliftment and humanitarian work.
The cultural segment of the evening will be a vibrant tribute to Mangalurean Catholic traditions, featuring Gumta, Baila, Folk Dances, Vovio, Maando, and the infectious energy of a live brass band a true celebration of rich and shared cultural legacy.
Gracing the occasion will be presidents and office bearers of Karnataka-based associations, distinguished community leaders, esteemed patrons, and members coming together for an evening of unity, meaningful exchange, and cultural pride.
