Mangaluru, Jun 26: Yenepoya Nursing College, a constituent institution of Yenepoya (Deemed to beUniversity) in collaboration with Infection Prevention and Control Unit, Yenepoya Medical College Hospital and Trained Nurses Association of India (TNAI) Karnataka state branch hosted a state level workshop on "Breaking the chain of HAIs: Stewardship, Safety and Surveillance"on June 26 at Yenepoya (Deemed to beUniversity) campus, Mangaluru.
Dr Habib Rahaman A A, medical superintendent, YMCH, inaugurated the workshop in the gracious presence of guest of honour K M Sathya Devi, nursing superintendent, YMCH. Dr Leena KC, principal, Yenepoya Nursing College, delivered the presidential address. Dr Rouchelle C Tellis, infection prevention and control officer, YMCH, Noothan Lasrado, deputy nursing superintendent, YMCH, Dr PallaviChoudhary, assistant general manager, Deepak Fertilizers and Petrochemicals, Mumbai, Reema D’Souza, infection prevention control nurse, Justice K S Hegde Charitable Hospital, Mangaluru were the resource persons for the workshop.






They addressed diagnostic and antimicrobial stewardship, occupational safety, disinfection practices and prevention of hospital associated infections respectively. Karnataka State Nursing Council (KSNC) has awarded 08 credit points for the workshop. Dr Aldrin Vas, professor, Thejaswini College of Nursing, Mangaluru was the KSNC observer. As many as 60 registered nurses from various hospitals in and around Mangaluru attended the workshop.
