Greater Noida, Jun 27: A power outage at a high-rise residential society in Greater Noida spiralled into shocking violence late Thursday night, leaving several residents injured after they were allegedly punched, kicked, and beaten with sticks by maintenance staff and security guards.

The incident took place at Ecovillage-1 society and was caught on video, which has since gone viral on social media. One clip shows guards hitting residents with sticks, while another shows three to four men punching and kicking them in the presence of a small child.

According to police, the violence erupted after hours-long electricity disruption angered the residents. When they approached the maintenance office for answers and received none, a heated argument escalated into a brutal assault by members of the maintenance team and security personnel.

One of the victims described the ordeal: “There was no power for two to three hours. When we went downstairs to inquire, we were attacked. One man held me by the collar, others hit me with sticks and slapped me. My entire body is swollen, and my children were crying in fear.”

Police said four maintenance staffers—Ravindra, Sohit, Sachin Kuntal, and Vipin Kasana—have been arrested in connection with the assault.

“On receiving the complaint, we reached the spot, registered a case, and arrested the accused for assaulting society residents,” said DCP Central Noida, Shakti Mohan Awasthi.

An investigation is underway into the incident, which has raised serious concerns over resident safety and staff conduct in gated communities.
