Ulaanbaatar, Jun 27: Mongolia is witnessing a sharp rise in measles infections, with over 200 new cases reported in a single day, taking the national caseload past 10,000, according to the National Centre for Communicable Diseases.
Most of the new infections are among school-age children who had received only one dose of the measles vaccine.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has warned that measles is one of the most contagious viral diseases, spreading through coughing, sneezing, or even breathing. Despite being preventable by vaccination, the disease continues to cause serious complications and death, especially among children.
In 2023 alone, over one lakh people—mostly children under five—died from measles worldwide. Authorities in Mongolia are urging parents to ensure complete vaccination to curb the outbreak.
