Tehran, Jun 27: In an audacious and highly coordinated twin operation, Israel executed a series of covert strikes on June 13, targeting Iran’s top military brass and nuclear scientists. Dubbed "Operation Red Wedding" and "Operation Narnia", the missions reportedly wiped out Iran's key commanders and nine top nuclear experts, dealing a severe blow to Tehran’s strategic capabilities.
Maj. Gen. Oded Basiuk, chief of the Israeli military’s Operations Directorate, described the high-stakes mission as a calculated gamble that took years to prepare. The strikes were reportedly carried out with surgical precision, relying on real-time intelligence, drone warfare, and sabotage assets embedded across Iran.
According to The Wall Street Journal, the groundwork for these operations was laid over decades as Israeli intelligence tracked Iran’s nuclear ambitions. Post Hamas’s October 2023 attack and subsequent Israeli military gains against Hezbollah and in Syria, the balance shifted, giving Israel air superiority across regional theatres.
The final green light came amid diplomatic smokescreens. Prime Minister Netanyahu staged a decoy family event and leaked tensions with US President Donald Trump to mislead Tehran, while Mossad agents had already smuggled explosives-laden drones into Iranian territory.
As the strikes commenced, Israel destroyed Iran’s missile bases, nuclear facilities, and most crucially, killed nine senior nuclear scientists and several top air force leaders. Iranian military commanders had unknowingly gathered at one location, simplifying Israeli targeting.
The strikes, carried out with precision drone and missile attacks, ended with a unilateral ceasefire, as both nations counted heavy losses. Israeli officials now claim the mission not only dismantled Iran’s nuclear capacity but also reshaped the strategic balance of power in the region.
