Bangalore, Jan 28: Opposition Congress leader in the Karnataka Legislative Council Motamma on Saturday alleged that the ruling BJP Government headed by Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda was ''remote-controlled” by RSS leaders, who were interfering in the day-to-day administration and transfer of officials, including top postings in IAS and IPS cadres.

Motamma, who is also a former Cabinet minister, alleged that RSS leaders were monitoring the functioning of the Government from Keshava Krupa, the RSS headquarters in City, and directing the Government to follow a certain set of policies.

''The interference by RSS leaders in the administration is nothing but devaluing the democracy by the Government. It is disrespect to elected representatives,” she claimed while addressing a news conference on the eve of the 10-day State Legislature session from Monday.

The State Government was virtually divided into two groups -- one group of ministers supporting former Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa and another group led by the Chief Minister, she said pointing out that the Government lacked unity.

The BJP Government has betrayed the promises made to the people during the last elections. Recent transfers of IAS and IPS officials had been affected at the behest of the RSS leaders, Motamma alleged.

The Congress leader pointed out that the Chief Minister, who expressed concern over slow progress of various development works in the State at the recent Deputy Commissioners’ meeting, has been ruling the State facing constant ''blackmail politics” of the former Chief Minister.

Nearly 70 per cent of funds released for tackling drought remained unspent till December last, the Congress leader alleged.

Even as a majority of taluks have been facing severe drought, she said the government made no serious attempts to address proble of the people. Instead of touring drought-hit districts, the Ministers participated in the RSS programme in Hubli, she said.

Recalling dissolution of assemblies during the Ramakrishna Hegde and S R Bommai regimes, the Congress leader demanded dissolution of the present Assembly and holding of fresh elections.

''We are ready to face elections. Several tainted leaders in the BJP are not ready to face the electorate,” Motamma said.
