Young leaders take oath at Manipal School, investiture ceremony inspires student leadership

Mangaluru, Jul 1: The investiture ceremony of Manipal School, Mangaluru was held with great pride and solemnity on Saturday, June 21, at the Marena Sports Complex. The event marked the official induction of the newly elected student cabinet for the academic year.

The chief guest for the occasion was Dr Dilip G Naik, pro vice-chancellor, MAHE – Mangaluru Campus. The guest of honour, Dr Sridhar Ranganath Pai, administrative officer, Academy of General Education, Manipal, also graced the ceremony. Other dignitaries in attendance included PTA president Sachin K J, vice president Sunitha Furtado, principal Srilatha Alva, vice principal Shilpa Moger, and headmistress Sapna Shetty.

The ceremony commenced with a soulful prayer, invoking blessings and positivity, followed by the symbolic lighting of the lamp by the chief guest and other dignitaries. The newly elected student leaders were then formally invested with badges of office, signifying the start of their leadership journey.

In his inspiring address, Dr Dilip G Naik congratulated the student leaders and urged them to uphold the school’s core values – leadership, teamwork, integrity, discipline, and compassion. He encouraged the students to contribute meaningfully to society through constructive, sustainable actions and to become agents of positive change.

Addressing the students, Dr Sridhar Ranganath Pai, emphasized that true leadership is not about titles but about respect, kindness, and awareness. He urged the students not to underestimate the strength of genuine human connections. Reflecting on the visionary legacy of the school’s founders — from Dr TMA Pai’s pioneering vision in 1942 to the current leadership of Dr Ramdas Pai and Dr Ranjan Pai — he urged students to stay connected to their cultural roots. He also encouraged them to stay informed about current affairs and the rich heritage of Mangalore and Dakshina Kannada, and to aim high with aspirations such as clearing the UPSC.

Principal, Srilatha Alva, administered the oath of office, where the newly appointed leaders honestly pledged to carry out their duties with sincerity, commitment, and a sense of responsibility, upholding the values and ideals of the school.

In her acceptance speech, Saanvi of grade XA, the newly elected school captain, expressed gratitude to the faculty and vowed to serve with dedication and purpose.

Muhammed Ahyan Arabi K of grade XB, the newly appointed opposition leader, delivered the welcome address, while Kab of grade IXB, the vice-captain, proposed a vote of thanks. The event was anchored gracefully by student comperes Neel and Aaliya Siraj.

The ceremony was attended by the teaching and non-teaching staff along with students of grades IX to XII, who witnessed the proud moment of leadership and promise. As the student council takes on its new responsibilities, Manipal School, Mangaluru remains committed to shaping tomorrow’s leaders through values, vision, and service.
