BRICS cultural dialogue in Rio strengthens South-South bonds, highlights global solidarity

Rio de Janeiro, Jul 2: In a vibrant showcase of unity and shared vision, the BRICS Edition of the 'Dialogue of Civilizations' series was held with grandeur at the Rio de Janeiro State University, drawing over 300 delegates and dignitaries from Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.

Themed "Strengthening Cultural Ties Among BRICS Nations: Empowering a Brighter Future for the Global South", the event was jointly hosted by the State Council Information Office of China and the Legislative Assembly of the State of Rio de Janeiro. It was co-organized by the China Intercontinental Communication Center (CICC), the information office of the Guangdong provincial government, Nanfang Media Group and Rio de Janeiro State University.

Delivering the inaugural address, a senior representative from the State Council Information Office of China underscored the power of cultural exchange in shaping the future of BRICS nations. “Our people-to-people ties are more than just interactions — they are bridges across continents, forming the heartbeat of cooperation in the Global South,” he remarked.

Highlighting the pressing global concerns such as climate change, inequality and geopolitical tensions, Tia Ju, Vice-President of the Legislative Assembly of Rio, said that BRICS nations now stand as the moral voice of the Global South. “Through cultural dialogue and mutual respect, we can foster peace, promote empathy and lay a strong foundation for inclusive global development,” she stated.

The event witnessed a spirited exchange of ideas, rich cultural performances, and discussions emphasizing mutual learning, solidarity, and the strengthening of civilizational bonds among emerging economies. With BRICS entering a dynamic phase of collaboration, the Rio dialogue echoed a clear message — unity in diversity remains the cornerstone of a resilient and prosperous Global South.

The event concluded with a renewed commitment to cultural diplomacy and people-driven cooperation, reinforcing BRICS as a formidable bloc for equitable global progress.
