Infosys techie arrested in Bengaluru for secretly filming woman in office washroom

Bengaluru, July 2: A senior associate employed at IT giant Infosys has been arrested for allegedly filming a woman inside the office washroom at the company’s Bengaluru campus, in a shocking breach of privacy.

The accused, identified as Nagesh Swapnil Mali, was reportedly caught red-handed on Monday by the woman employee, who noticed suspicious activity from the adjoining cubicle. Upon closer inspection, she found that Mali had been attempting to record her using his mobile phone.

According to the First Information Report (FIR), the woman immediately raised an alarm. Other employees rushed to the spot and detained Mali. His mobile phone was recovered and found to contain the video footage, which was later deleted in the presence of the woman by Human Resources personnel.

Police sources have indicated that this may not be an isolated incident. Investigators are now probing whether other women were similarly targeted. Mali’s phone has been sent to a forensic lab to retrieve deleted data and confirm if he has a history of such acts.

“Inappropriate filming in a place meant to be private is a serious offence. The forensic examination will help us determine the scale of the misconduct,” a senior police official said.

A similar case occurred in Ayodhya in April, where a 25-year-old guest house employee near the Ram Temple was arrested for filming a woman while she bathed. The woman, a devotee from Varanasi, noticed a shadow above and discovered that she was being filmed through a gap in the tin roof.

Police later seized the phone of the accused, identified as Saurabh Tiwari, and found several videos involving other women guests. He was taken into custody and an investigation was launched.

If such educated people behave so disgustingly, then what can we expect from the uneducated? The uneducated ones actually seem wiser than these educated folks.
