Mangaluru, Jul 4: The PTA general body meeting was held at the Ladyhill Composite PU College Auditorium on the July 2. The programme commenced with a warm welcome to the chief guest, Father Clifford Fernandes, who was accompanied by a band that greeted him as he entered the auditorium.
The proceedings began with an invocation, featuring a prayer song seeking blessings from the almighty. Following this, the chief guest and the other dignitaries lighted the lamp. Father Clifford Fernandes, the parish priest of Kulshekar church, a distinguished orator, and a professor at St Joseph Seminary, graced the event. He was accompanied by notable personalities including Sister Maria Kripa AC, the joint secretary; Sister Pushpa Pinto AC, the headmistress; Sister Sharmila AC, the principal of Ladyhill PU College; as well as former principal Sr Ujwala A.C., retired teacher Clementine and retired support staff Sharanitha.

Sister Sharmila AC delivered the welcome speech, extending a warm greeting to Father Clifford Fernandes and to everyone present. The chief guest then addressed the gathering, speaking on the topic: "The impact of weakened family bonds on children." He emphasized the importance of strong family relationships, highlighting the role of parents in nurturing children, the do's and don'ts of parenting, and fostering healthy relationships within the family. His speech underscored the significance of parental involvement in a child's development.
The session concluded with expressions of gratitude to the chief guest for his valuable insights.
The meeting continued with the reading of the report of the PTA general body meeting by teacher Elizabeth, followed by the presentation of the audited Statement of Accounts by Teacher Angela.
Retired teachers Sister Ujwala AC (former principal), teacher Clementine, and non-teaching staff Sharanita were felicitated for their dedicated service. Teacher Angela spoke about Sister Ujwala AC, while teacher Manjula highlighted the contributions of teacher Clementine and Sharanita. They were honored with shawls, fruits, mementos, and flowers.
Next, Sister Pushpa Pinto AC, the headmistress, provided important instructions for the students and addressed the parents on maintaining discipline and cooperation within the school community.
The top scorers of both PUC and High School were felicitated. The felicitation of PUC students both in science and commerce stream was conducted by Vanita and Reema, while the High School toppers felicitation was conducted by teacher Bindu, teacher Savinaya and teacher Wilma, wherein Chaya and Chaithanya were felicitated and Students who secured above 600 marks were presented with mementos as a mark of recognition.
The president of the PTA, Sister Maria Kripa AC, addressed the parents, emphasizing the importance of active parental involvement in students' academic and personal growth.
The formation of the new PTA core committee was then conducted under the guidance of Ritin, during which Praveen was elected as the new PTA vice president.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by teacher Sweety. The proceedings were gracefully compered by teacher Bavyashree and lecturer Seema.
The event was a successful gathering fostering collaboration among parents, teachers, and students for the betterment of the school community.
