Ranchi, Jul 4: In a shocking incident, a 25-year-old woman from Uttar Pradesh was allegedly pushed out of a moving train by her husband in Jharkhand, police said on Friday. Miraculously, the woman survived and is currently undergoing treatment at the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Ranchi.

The incident took place on Tuesday when the couple, identified as Khushboo Kumari and her husband, boarded the Varanasi Express from Barkakana, en route to Varanasi. According to the Government Railway Police (GRP), the woman was allegedly shoved off the speeding train by her husband between Bhurkunda and Patratu railway stations under the East Central Railway division.

Khushboo fell into a water-filled ditch, which cushioned the fall and likely saved her life. She sustained injuries and was spotted by a railway lineman, who immediately alerted the Railway Protection Force (RPF) at Patratu.

The injured woman was first taken to Sadar Hospital in Ramgarh and later referred to RIMS for advanced care.

In her statement to the police, Khushboo, a resident of Devaria in Uttar Pradesh, claimed that her husband pushed her intentionally with the motive to kill her, disguising it as an accident. The couple had been married for a year.

“By God’s grace, I survived,” Khushboo told investigators from her hospital bed.

Officer-in-Charge of Barkakana GRP, Manohar Barla, confirmed that an investigation is underway and appropriate action will be taken based on the findings.
